will i be involved in my Childs therapy?
Absolutely! Teamwork is one of our core values, and that includes involving the family. At PTS, we strongly believe that parent and family engagement is key to your child's success. Our therapists will keep you updated on your child's progress and share strategies to support them both at home and in the community.
how long do therapy sessions last?
Evaluations, Physical and Occupational Therapy sessions are typically one hour each and Speech Therapy sessions are typically 30 mins.
does my child need a referral from a physician to start therapy at pediatric therapy services?
Yes, a referral from your child’s pediatrician is required to ensure we create the best treatment plan for their needs. If you need assistance obtaining the referral, feel free to call us at 503-666-1333. Our team will be happy to help by contacting the pediatrician directly on your behalf.
is my child old enough to start pediatric therapy?
The wonderful thing about pediatric therapy is that it benefits children of all ages. The earlier your child begins treatment, the more easily they can reach their developmental milestones. We work with children starting from newborns to address physical, occupational, communication, and feeding concerns.
what is the difference between occupational and physical therapy?
Although there is some overlap between these two therapies, occupational therapy primarily targets fine motor skills like dressing, feeding, coordination, perceptual abilities, and play skills. In contrast, physical therapy focuses on gross motor skills, helping children develop strength, balance, and proper gait. Physical therapy also supports children who need assistance learning to use adaptive equipment, such as walkers or wheelchairs.
